POP to IMAP conversion causes loss of communication between TB and server

I'm running TB 91.11 on Windows 8.1. Yesterday I converted one of my accounts from POP3 to IMAP: port 993, SSL/TLS, Normal password. Today I see that TB is not retrieving messages from the account server. Using their webmail app I can see that there are messages on the server, but they are not being downloaded to TB automatically (I have "Check for messages every 10 minutes' ticked in Server Settings.) When I click "Get Messages|IMAP account name" nothing is displayed in TB's lower left corner where I usually see status notes saying what TB is doing, and no messages are downloaded.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? All help gratefully appreciated.

Given an account can not be changed from IMAP to POP or vise versa after they are added to Thunderbird. Are you sure you have actually changed this fundamental issue?

Open account settings and click in the server settings below the account name in the left column. Is the account described as IMAP or POP on the first line on the right?

Thanks, Matt. I checked that and it is described as IMAP. However, this morning I noticed a couple strange things: 1. A few emails made it through over the last 36 hours and ended up in my TB inbox. Normally, however, I would expect 20 or 30 emails on a Monday morning. 2. When I look at my webmail box it shows no new emails since Friday, when I made the IMAP changes.

Could this have something to do with forwarding? I have lots of email addresses that are forwarded to this account. Could changing to IMAP affect this? Do I need to reset all my forwards?
