Some e-mail from Gmail not loading in Thunderbird (not in spam)
I have noticed that several of my e-mails from Gmail are not downloading into my Thunderbird. It's e-mails that WERE coming over fine months ago (ex. Discover statement, utility bill). They are not going Thunderbird spam or Gmail spam. I can see them in Gmail when I log in there. I hit "get messages" and they still don't come. I've added the e-mail addresses to my contacts, but it still doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas?

The TB profile folder path is shown in Help/More Troubleshooting, about:profiles.
While I recommend adding the exclusion, I don't think it's the cause of the messages not downloading. Try right-clicking the folder in the Folder Pane, Properties, Repair Folder, to force a download of all messages on the mail server.

Do messages that arrive in gmail after the ones that aren't downloading appear in TB? It's common for a corrupted message to block the download of later messages, so deleting them in webmail often restores the normal operation.
The following messages come in fine. So it'll download 10 or 20 and then skip one or two and then download more.
Do you have any kind of anti-spam option that is part of a security/antivirus program? What is the antivirus? In general, the TB profile folder should be excluded from AV scanning, and any anti-spam option either disabled or checked for false positives.
I have Windows Defender running, but that's it. I opened Defender but am not quite sure where to go to check that.

I think that did it. I went ahead and added the folder to the exclusion list. But when I did the "repair folder," a bunch of e-mails downloaded. Thank you so much for taking the time to walk me through it. I really appreciate it!
In my case also, some 3 messages were in gmail, that were not getting downloaded in TB on w11 after repeated attempt to download.
Then I noticed that the messages have been downloaded, but there was big attachement in them, and I had set my TB to "NOT download attachment larger that 500KB" so probably it has kept those mails in gmail undeleted, "thinking" that I will need to download the attachment some day.
I opened those 3 mails in tb, clicked on "download entire message" of whatever, and after those attachment got downloaded, the mails disappeared from my gmail.com web page.
So, check in your TB whether those mails have indeed already been downloaded and whether they have some attachment in them that is not downloaded. Download that and check whether gmail mails are gone?
Thanks
adding TB profile or any individual folder to defender's exclusion is literally a cyber suicide because then windows security will not check that folder's contents for viruses and if any virus reaches that folder, it will remain there and spread across your box and spoil everything.
I have been using netscape/ TB for 25 years and never added my TB folders to exclusion list and it has worked fine, so there is no requirement to do so for any troubleshooting.
Thanks.
(I had posted it once, but not seeing it appearing on this page to repeat posting)
