I have used Firefox for years. Today I tried and somehow failed to update or upgrade Firefox. Now I cannot access Firefox in any way.
Firefox will not open. What I get is a message that says: "Profile missing: Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." Please help. I would prefer to continue using Firefox instead of switching to Chrome.

thanks for your help. I figured out how to get the bar back. I may be good to go now. I will not click on any Firefox update buttons again.

So how did you firefox update? And what version are you now 32bit or 64bit and what was the previous version?

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar.
How many profiles are listed?
How many should be there?
I did not update Firefox. I attempted to update and Firefox crashed. Now I have no access to firefox and no way to fix my mess that I can figure out. Thus my initial question. I now have no version of firefox. I'm pretty sure I was using 32 bit when the program crashed. I've been using firefox for over 20 years and now I'm cut off.
FredMc D.: none of the four links you sent does any good. I'm currently not able to follow any of them. My computer is not responding in a way that makes sense when I try to follow those links.
I'm going to once again attempt to delete Firefox entirely. Then I will wait a day before attempting to reinstall. When I have deleted and waited just a few minutes to reinstall, I get the same message about my profile is missing or inaccessible.
I don't know why or how the update I clicked was corrupted. If Firefox is this much trouble and untrustworthy I may be forced to give it up.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
I just went to a non Firefox help site on line and quickly got Firefox back up and running.
However, I'm now missing the pull down tabs along the top of the screen that I once used for bookmarks, editing, printing, etc. I can't figure out how to reestablish those pull down tabs. Any ideas w/ that problem?

That was very good work. Well done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.
