no matter which site I go to using firefox I get the same message that the site has not updated the security & it will not allow me to get to the site. This is on AOL, Optimum & even mozilla site to send the error message to? This is very bad for a browser that mozilla says is better than chrome. None of those issues pop up using chrome, IE or edge from microsoft?? I even had MCAvee try to correct the issue to no avail??

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

I figured out the log on, PW, issue & STARTING IN SAFE MODE i AM ABLE TO GET TO AOL& OTHER SITES. i AM USING dELL RUNNING WINDOWS 10. Do i always have to start in safe mode for firerfox to work? If so that's not so good! Or based on what happens in safe mode is there a fix you can recommend? PS I didnt notice any quicker speed VS-VS chrome?

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

PSS. Using safe mode also will not allow me to enable add ons ie, macafee web advisor or any other add on? I also noticed that it didnt show that the browser doesnt have adobe flash? Is that also because i am in safe mode for firefox??

fyi as to why cannot put extensions back and : In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

No, you need to do stuff like : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems

I would also check to see if your A/V program or Firewall is causing the issue, Check their forums for any information as a number of the top A/v's are having issues. Also Update them Please. As well update video card drivers.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

Thanks Fred after I restarted I now can get to all sites that I could not get to before. Using the safe mode worked & even when I restarted w/o safe mode it worked. Do you know what caused the issue in the first place that required using safe mode? Once again thanks, the issue was a real pain>

Quirk, It pushed something to reset I would guess, no way of knowing.

It could have been a corrupt file that was overwritten.
