Today I was going to look at a facebook year in review video but it said i needed to update my flash player so I went to adobe and did so, updated to the most recent version. still got the same message on the video, that I needed to upgrade. The odd part is that other videos of the same type played fine.

After googling the issue I tried to use mozillas advice and uncheck block dangerous flash content (from the shockwave flash "more info" link on the ad-ons page) Then I no longer got the upgrade message, but firefox was still blocking the plugin with the message "A plugin used by this site..." I activated it and set firefox to remember my setting, but I'm still extremely confused as to why FF would block ANY flash content on facebook, and why that particular video was blocked while other facebook generated videos played.

running win7 and firefox just updated earlier today

Never believe a Pop-up from anywhere that says need to update your Flash. If all others were working then did not need a update.

Always get your updates from Adobe : Flash Player Version: 27.0.0.187 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

Just to make sure : Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help : https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/ Post in only 1 forum, then wait.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

you didn't read

I went to ADOBE and did so I have enough sense to not click on popups that say to update flash anyhow this is a FACEBOOK generated video, on facebook, not an ad on a porn site.

Your padding your answer count with needless anti virus panic is not helpful

I'll also add that there was no pop-up, this was a message embedded in the facebook video player frame, its a standard message thats been around as long as FB video.

The real question is why was flash being blocked on a well known platform that uses an abundance of flash, and why is the blocking random, as in some videos are blocked and some are not, and why is firefox disabling flash on facebook too, because thats what caused the upgrade message, the fact that the video player couldn't see the flash plugin.

I had to turn off the process that blocks the plugin and then actually activate it, so in a sense firefox double blocked flash on facebook

That was rude. You are correct I missed the word adobe in low case. or would not have sent the malware info. Pop-up was not explained as embedded. Not all people use FB so I would not know that. Do not assume. This is not a FB forum, why not ask that question there since it was generated there. Support Volunteers are here to help and not be abused with padded stats...right.

you're deflecting and still not reading.

its not a FB issue because FB is not the one disabling flash, firefox is

so lets start again

Fifefox disabled flash on a flash heavy well known site because of the option in the plugin settings "block dangerous and intrusive flash" which is obviously not working as designed was set to on by default. This caused the facebook player to (rightly) advise me to upgrade because it couldnt read the flash version data because the plugin was disabled by firefox.

I could understand this if it was global, as in flash was blocked across the ENTIRE facebook platform, but no, it was only disabled on some videos that firefox deemed to be intrusive even though other auto generated videos (as in its an automated video creation tool created by facebook that assembles videos of your activity) were not deemed to be intrusive.

My question is, is this disabling feature working as intended? why is it behaving in a random fashion
