Hi,

just wanted to suggest some options into thunderbird's junk filtering department ;)  :

  • "Junk status change on the fly" => just drag mail message from inbox to junk folder and it will be marked as junk automatically and vice-versa.
  • Since I found out that Thunderbird can be used as the best standalone freeware junk-mail filter I tested, as a further development to previously suggested option my next proposition/question: is it possible to make junkfilter work to change mail-message junk-status on the fly not in the Thunderbird itself but analyzing (IMAP) mail account => if Inbox'es mail-message is moved to junk outside Thunderbird, then moved mail-message will be marked as a junk and vice-versa.

Your item #1 is even easier with keyboard, just hit "j". But it's a nice suggestion.

You mean something like allowing TB to train DSPAM or spampal? Do you have a specific name in mind?

Hi, sorry for the delay! :)

>You mean something like allowing TB to train DSPAM or spampal? Do you >have a specific name in mind?

I try to describe my situation: I have 2 mailclients both ONLINE at the same time: one is TB and other is Outlook, both are linked to the same IMAP account. TB does all the junk filtering, Outlook just reads mail. But if the TB decides mail's junk/nonjunk status then Outlook user cannot influence that. If I move TB's marked junk message out of junk folder to inbox in Outlook it's still junk for TB and viceversa. I cannot move junkmarked mailmessage out of the junk folder in Outlook because it bounces back to junk folder rightaway. So is there any option to make TB decide mail's junk status on the fly : if mail is in junk folder(whatever the junkstatus is) it's been considered as junk and if its not in junk folder it considered to not been junk(auto mark/unmark ???) I have not idea yet what should trigger the auto-mark query -> Any change in database?

There are many junk filters out there for outlook and I tryed many of them, most payed but none of them is so effective and simple as the TB's as useing it in a parralel account.

Best Regards and appologies for annoyng and crazy ideas, Aleksander

Click the flame icon in the junk status column. Changed in the fly without any dragging

Thunderbird can be told to accept the junk header entered by a number of commercial products. BogoFilter, DSPAM, POPFile, SpamAssassin and SPAMPal Right click the account in the folder pane, select settings in junk setting for the account set up which address books should be used as a white list for junk processing and which other spam products headers should be honored.
