My bookmarks are gone and I can't find them on "restore" like Mozilla support suggests.
I cannot recover 4 years' worth of organized bookmarks... they were there 2 days ago. When I click "import/backup" then "restore" it just says "choose a file" and goes to desktop. It doesn't give me a list of dates. Please help...? (I just installed Kaspersky and I think it may have put me into "safe browsing" - their words not mine - if that means anything to you.) Again, here's what I'm doing: Click Bookmarks, (drop-down menu) click Show All Bookmarks, (new menu) click Import & Backup, (drop-down menu) click Restore - instead of a list of dates it reads Choose File as only option, click Choose File = takes me to desktop icons.

Immediately backup your Firefox profile folder & its files by copying it somewhere safe (Outside of Firefox profile or program paths) your desktop or my documents would do.
- For instructions please read Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data
Please post back when you have done that.
It is good practice to do the profile backup before attempting any bookmark recovery because or the danger of files being overwritten incorrectly or being lost.
I am guessing the Kaspersky safe-browsing is some unnecessary gimmick to moneytise your browsing. By default Firefox provides phishing malware protection
- How does built-in Phishing and Malware Protection work?
Your Kaspersky Anti Virus protection is separate and should still be used, that will work with Firefox.

THANK YOU, JOHN99! I could not get the backup to work right, but you took me to a page that showed how to copy bookmarks from my other (uncorrupted) computer, so I did that and it works perfectly now. Directly & indirectly, you solved it for me. THANKS AGAIN!

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
