getting the above error often. Games won't load - and now friends posts are not loading completely. I've reset FF - uninstalled it - and reloaded. Now I'm suffering from Scrabble withdrawals. Help!

Check the connection settings.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

Try to set the security.enable_tls_session_tickets pref to false on the about:config page.

Try to set the security.tls.version.min and security.tls.version.max prefs to 0 to disable TLS (0 means SSL3). You may need to close and restart Firefox after changing these prefs.

security.tls.version.min = 0
security.tls.version.max = 0

Thank you! Thank you! Seems changing the values to '0' did the trick.

Take a bow  :-)

I also wondered if it was a Kaspersky thing. I was advised to go to about:config and change the TSL min and max values to '0'.

It worked!

Falling back to SSL3 and disabling TLS is reasonable as an emergency workaround, but it gives you a lower level of security (lower quality of encryption) on sites where you really care about it, so I suggest continuing to look for another solution.

I'm certainly no boffin at this, so if there is another solution .... please let me know.

I'm still wondering about Kaspersky though but don't have a clue where to start!

Hi JustJenS, I have to give up on finding the most recent Kaspersky support articles, so hopefully these KIS 2012/KIS 2013 articles will help:

(1) General SSL scan setting: How to scan encrypted connections in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012?

(2) Making an exception for a specific program (e.g., Google Chrome): Encrypted connections scan by Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 in Google Chrome; Scan of encrypted connections in Google Chrome and Opera (KIS 2013)

Does booting the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) has any effect?
