When open a website the buttons do not work and api.extensionupdate.com show up at the bottom of the screen.
When I open a website the buttons do not work(continue, calendar, etc) and api.extensionupdate.com shows up at the bottom of the screen. Running xp with all updates and ran 2 virus programs without result. Went to the website api.extensionupdates.com and it is empty. Did a web search with some talk about Chrome but nothing to help. I am running FF 22. Does anyone have a solution?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Thanks for the help Waka_Flocka_flame but the problem is still there. I have run full scans with Avast, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpy, Microsoft Safety Scanner, TDSSKiller, HitmanPro and ESET Online Scanner. They found a few things buried deep in old emails or old system restores. I deleted them all. But the problem still exists. If I go to Kyak for example everything works but if I go to hipmunck the buttons like search do not work. I also use CCleaner and now when I run cleaner I always have the following FF stuff to delete but I have selected not to keep anything after I shut down FF. This started at the same time as the problem began. ANALYSIS COMPLETE - (10.935 secs)

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
Are all of your plugins and extensions up-to-date?
Yes all of my plugin and extensions are up to date and I have disabled the extensions to see if it made a difference == it did not.
When you run Firefox in Safe Mode, does this issue still occur?
I just ran it in safe mode and the problem has gone away. Thank you. What steps should I follow from this point?
Its still some sort of program or malware , remove all susipicious programs from the windows control panel > Uninstall Programs
Export all of your bookmarks and write down the name of all the extensions that you want.
Then go to Help > Troubleshooting Information
From here you will need to press the Reset Firefox button.
This will clear all of your preferences and data from the Firefox program, but should fix the issue.
You can then import the bookmarks and reinstall the extensions.
If this doesn't fix the issue, please comment below.

How many Anti-Virus programs do you have installed on your computer? How many firewalls do you have installed on your computer?

Reset and problem is gone -- Thanks to all.
WARNING: Running more than 1 anti-virus and more than 1 firewall makes your computer an easy target for viruses.
The programs will conflict with each other and will allow viruses to sneak by undetected.
Limit your computer down to 1 firewall and 1 anti-virus program.
NOTE: Anti-viruses/Firewalls that require you to pay a fee are generally more secure than freeware/demo programs.
