complete transfer of firefox

i need to move mozilla from one machine to another. i need a complete "deep" copy. from what i know, there is a profile folder and a program folder. would i need to install firefox then copy over the folders to replace/overwrite what is there? or can i just copy over both and it should be a 100% duplicate? the reason i am asking this is that sometimes when i copy over the root folders and run the executable, it asks to install the program properly. that means that the installer stores information that is not inside the root folder and i need to find that and copy it over as well.

A 100% clone is difficult. The reason is that Firefox picks up add-ons from the Registry (e.g., installed plugins that have added themselves to the plugins list) and files that other software may have deposited in a "shared" folder in the Firefox program folder.

Setting those aside, the most essential files to copy over are in your currently active profile folder and are described in this article: Recover important data from an old profile.
