Firefox fills complete screen - no close box - can't shut down, etc. Makes it worthless

more options

Opening firefox, takes me to default program Yahoo which opens to total full screen thus not showing any tool bars, no URL address field, and nothing at the bottom of screen either. Cant' even shut down properly. Downloaded the latest version and nothing changed. I really need this browser in order to work on web site. Oh yeah, can't see bookmarks either.

Firefox's native "full screen" mode shows the menu bar if you move your mouse all the way to the top of the screen. Or you can press the F11 key to switch between normal and full screen.

If those don't work, perhaps you are in a Flash full screen window? If you right-click, does the menu refer to Adobe Flash?

Try pressing F11. That should take Firefox out of full-screen mode. If you do not want websites being able to force Firefox into full-screen mode, you can set this in about:config:

full-screen-api.enabled = false

Also, when in the Full Screen mode, you can view your bookmarks in the sidebar with {Ctrl + B} - which also closes the Bookmarks Sidebar when you want to close it..

You can also check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.

Thanks to all that replied. Extremely helpful and quick. I am impressed. Other Browsers would do well to incorporate this method of assistance.
