Hi thedragonmaster,

It is expected that Firefox 13.01 is to be released some-time tomorrow, and that it will solve the problem of the silent crashes from FlashPlayer.

Hi,

You could try to re-trust Firefox, plugincontainer and all related processes in Comodo again. You can also try to temporarily disable Comodo for a few minutes and check.

I'm using Vista's firewall and having the same issues-even after I "trusted" it in the Windows firewall already.

just for the heck of it, i disabled comodo entirely, it still happens. i was going to look in to the most recent crashes but when i click them i just get a throttling notice, seems i have a lot of "silent" crashes as well.

the latest event viewer

Faulting application plugin-container.exe, version 13.0.0.4535, time stamp 0x4fc8de63, faulting module NPSWF32_11_3_300_257.dll_unloaded, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4fc821fc, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x5a069903, process id 0xf90, application start time 0x01cd4aebba9b02cf.

and all of the crash i.d.'s as of midnight (tho i just get a throttling message when i try to look at them)

I've been having the same issues since I updated to version 13 but I think I've now solved it.

Here is what I did: As the plugin container is used by Flash I thought this could be the source of the problem so I uninstalled Flash using their uninstaller:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Then I completly deleted any trace of it's settings from my system by removing the system32 flash folder:

C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash

Plus the two flash folders inside my %AppData%:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Flash Player

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player

Then I reinstalled Flash but this time I installed the version specifically designed for 'plugin-based browsers' such as FireFox:

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

As far as I can tell this has resolved my issue. If it happens again for me which means my solution isn't the answer I will let you guys know. If this isn't the solution, my next step will be to go into about:config and turn off the plugin container so that all of firefox runs inside one process.

Hope this has helped you!

BTW: Forgot to mention, when I uninstalled/reinstalled Flash I switched off both my firewall and antivirus apps. Don't know if this is relevant or not but now you can replicate what I did.

Hi rreeve,

You have possibly regressed to an older version of FlashPlayer, which may well solve the problem but will increase the security risks.

These sorts of problems are under active investigation, especially when relating to use of RealPlayer.

Readers of this thread may well be interested in the thread /questions/929441#answer-342516 noting that a new release of Firefox could solve some of the problems. Otherwise look at the suggested steps to solve the problem mentioned in that thread.

That's what I initially thought but as far as I can tell it's latest stable version of Flash that's specifically designed for plugin-based browsers. Its downloaded straight from Adobe and I don't see any warnings that this version is a security risk which I'm sure they would legally be required to disclose. I'm pretty confident with it however I will update to the latest standard version once Firefox have fixed this issue.

BTW: I don't know if its a coincidence or not but I haven't experienced the problem since I made these changes.
