I have tried numerous times to save usernames and passwords, but I don't get the popup to save them; hence it is not possible to save any.
Simply put, why doesn't Firefox allow me to save the username and password of websites? I used to have this convenience, but I no longer have the option available to me.

Make sure that you not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

- You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
- To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
- Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
