Is there no way to interrupt or stop downloading a web page or other web feature? There used to be an "x" icon that would stop a process underway. THX

This question arises from starting a download process and then having it "hang" (for example, by showing a circular icon going around and around) for extended periods. I simply want to stop the download and go somewhere else.

You can use the Refresh/Stop button which has been incorporated into the far right end of the Address Bar. When you load a page, it is a "Stop" button, when it finished loading, it turns into a "Reload" button.

Or just close the tab.
