How do I get the "go back/go forward" buttons to go multiple pages?

I just updated to Firefox 4.0. I use the "go back" and "go forward" buttons a lot and I can't figure out how to use it to move multiple pages at a time. Instead, I have to keep doing single clicks. This is majorly annoying and at times the browser won't let me go back at all! Help!

Hello! Firefox 4 definitely supports that. Just click and hold down either the back or forward button and a menu will drop down with all the sites in your history and you can jump to them.

Thanks a heap. It was so frustrating.

Every time a new browser comes out it is the same. Maybe I should spend more hours going through the guide but then this is usually so long that it is easier to find the posts on the few problems experienced.

This version has been much better than its predecessor. Keep up the good work.....looking forward to seeing a true 64 bit browser some time soon!!

Anyone know of another way to do it? I use a touchpad and have to go back to the click buttons in order to "hold down" a button.

Use one of these methods to open the tab history list:

  • Right click on the Back or Forward button
  • Hold down the left mouse button on the enabled Back or Forward button until the list opens
