Crashes frequently; I fill out a report every time but no response

Firefox has crashed at least 3 times weekly since the next to last update. Each time I'm asked to document what I was doing and give permission for an error report to be filled so the problem could be solved. I filled out each report--although never once was I doing the same thing when the crashes occurred. I tried to check out the knowledge base and (somehow) got the idea that my Firewall and/or AVG Internet Security could be part of the problem. Firefox recommended checking the Firewall setting under Tools in the AVG 9.0 User Interface. Nice. There is such heading. So I'm lost....still. And I keep wanting to go back to a previous version. Is that impossible?
