Hi Barbara, another way to get to your new tab page settings is through the Settings page, Home panel. As a shortcut, you can paste the following into the address bar in Firefox and press Enter to load it:
about:preferences#home
First check that you have your new tab set to "Firefox Home" and then check whether the box for "Weather" is checked. If you don't have the box, hmm... I'll ask you to dig into some further settings in another reply.
Firefox has a number of configuration settings for new tab page weather. I'm running the U.S. English version, so depending on which version of Firefox you run, yours may look different.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste newtab*weather and pause while the list is filtered (the reason for the * in the middle is to match a list of relevant preferences)
(3) If any preference is bolded, that usually indicates that it has been customized. You can restore the default value by double-clicking it, or by clicking the Reset button (left-arching arrow) at the right end of the row.
If you made any changes, try Ctrl+T again and see whether it made any difference.
Note that the built-in Firefox new tab page has about:newtab (with a colon) as its URL, so you can open about:newtab in a new tab to test this.
