Can't log into router. Works with Chrome and Edge 192.168.2.1

Tried this says in the router's Admin page: Access setting page via https://router.asus.com:8443 * Please use port 1024-65535. With and without :80 and :433

Tried everything I can find on this site and Google. Has worked for many years.

I searched all of Firefox using %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and deleted every line in every file that had Asus With Firefox not open.

I tried http://192.168.2.1 and http://router.asus.com Neither worked.

Then used Chrome and set Admin/System/Authentication Method to both

This worked with Firefox, with 2 warning popups. https://router.asus.com:8443/

May I recommend that you update Firefox to better handle access to the router when the PC is inside the local network. I appreciate the fact that it's good to have protection when there may be more than one device with access to the router settings inside the local network. But, I'd guess the vast majority of Firefox users are individuals that lack the knowledge to handle security certs and Admin settings in their router.

I'm a retired EE and have been using Asus routers for about 15 years. My current one is the RT-AX82U WIFi 6 Works great.

This simply URL http://192.168.2.1/ has worked for years. Also, to use https://192.168.2.1/ one has to Enable Local Access Config Authentication Method HTTP or both HTTP and HTTPS However, HTTPS requires a security certificate be installed, which is a pain in the butt; but, I did it. Doesn't help.

The fact that Chrome and Edge work perfect proves the issue is caused by Firefox and not the router.

In Firefox 107 you should be able to access router.asus.com via http: http://router.asus.com

If this doesn't work then try to rename or edit SiteSecurityServiceState.txt in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed and remove lines that link to asus.com or router.asus.com.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).
