Why does it seem Mozilla seems to hate the end users....???

more options

It seems the folks there at Firefox central enjoy wrecking people's experience by frequently releasing new browsers that breaks what already in place. What the hell is wrong with you guys...?? Are you secretly employed by Microsoft and/or Google....?? Seriously, this is no way to run a browser company. It is, however, a great way to ruin one. Give us a break, and stop breaking our browsers. You ruin our experience, and you do it on a semi regular basis. It's all well and fine to release new stuff, with new features, but for the love of God if it's gonna break what we already have, at the very least offer us a way to keep what we have, and have it supported even in a minimal way, and branch off the new option. I get your fears, you fear that not enough people will opt for the new one like that, and you're probably right. That however, should tell you something.

We loyally support your project. That should be worth something. Thanks.

Hi, this tech support forum is staffed mostly by volunteers. Do you have a question about something in particular?

I suppose it was one part frustration, one part venting, and one part hoping to find a way to upgrade past 88.01 without laying waste to the current look and feel of what I already have. I walked away from Firefox before the Australis abomination came into effect, going with some of the derivative options available. Alas, one by one they have either fallen by the wayside or simply become unusable, so I came back. It took a fair bit of effort to make the look and feel familiar enough for my liking, and then of course they have to go and wreck everything again. I don't feel I should have to wage a war with a browser just to mitigate the unwarranted and unwanted changes forced upon us for no good reason.

If someone actually has a viable solution, I would of course be eternally grateful.....

Thanks.

Is the goal to get the UI looking more like the "Photon" design of Firefox 57-88? For the most part, that requires a userChrome.css workaround. I assume you are familiar? For specific style rules, we have had innumerable threads here since Firefox 89 released, and of course r/FirefoxCSS has been very busy as well. I have a general page here if you need a starting point: https://www.userchrome.org/firefox-89-styling-proton-ui.html

Looks like a very informative page. I'll take a good look over the next while and hopefully find what I need. Thanks.

I totally agree, firefox has lost its way.

Issues with: Search. Backspace. Oveheads. Hidden plug-ins/add-ons. Changed login, now user name not held by fireox itself wtf?? No unified login to mozilla projects etc. No UI in mind in any new releases. No UE as per above. I could go on but no one listens at mozzilla.

Hi philbowyer007, you listed a bunch of things you are dissatisfied with, but the only one I saw you posted about was having text typed into the search box in the built-in Firefox Home / new tab page jump up to the address bar instead of staying in the search box. (1350923) That one has a preference so you can switch from the new behavior back to the old behavior.

If you want assistance with the other items on your list --

You would be surprised how many changes get rolled back or tweaked. People are listening. However, we all know you can't make 200 million people happy at the same time, so not everyone can get the settings they prefer.

Thank you for your reply. All of these are well detailed, documented and notified on this volunteer help portal, not by myself, i.e. Re: the search issue, I only tried to escalate as I still have some loyalty to firebox, although I cannot in good conscience recommend it any more or at this time.

None of thse have been addressed in any updates, and some issues have been on these books for a long time.

Re Search itself I have had to go into "about:config" and not in "Preferences" on each update or refresh to err "correct", and that is one of a few I need to change and the list of changes I need to make keeps growing, the list of unused overheads keeps growing etc.

My two last points re user interface and user experience are the key issues for the average user and therefore user retention which is key for mozilla. However, the impossibility of good two way communication, the onerous reporting mechanisms etc. leave me somewhat disillusioned and reminds me of the path other now defunct web-browsers went down before going defunct/seriously side-lined, while the user base may be able to be sold for a few dollars I do not think this is the end-game or end-goal for this organisation.
