Thunderbird stopped receiving emails on all 4 accounts
Hi I have used thunderbird as my PC mail programme for several years without any problem. I have an up to date pc running win10 (64 bit) which is working unchanged. I have 4 email addresses installed in thunderbird - 2 x hotmail, 1 x bt internet, 1 x gmail. I updated thunderbird to v. 78.5.1 on Monday 30th November and since then I have not been receiving emails on any of the accounts. I can retrieve emails directly using the the web based browser method and also on iphone and ipad. I can send emails from thunderbird but it does not display in the sent email section, I have to put them here manually. Any help would be much appreciated.

Same problem here (24 email accounts, various providers). All set as POP (no IMAP). Please enable roll-back.
My partner, who has almost the same setup, had no issues in receiving and sending emails with Thunderbird 78.5.1. So I started to check the differences. One difference is the anti-virus/firewall software. To see if my firewall is the cause of Thunderbird not receiving/sending emails I took the risk of shutting down my firewall (ESET) and startup Thunderbird. Immediatly the emails started comming in (seems I missed a lot in one week). No firewall is not an option these days, so I started to finetune the firewall by trial and error. Eventually I found out that turning off POP3S-verification is sufficient to be able to receive (and send) emails with a still working firewall.
The ESET issue has been reported by many users on this forum. Here are the recommendations from ESET:
