Firefox keeps eating my RAM
So Firefox, even with few tabs open, can cause my decent PC (512GB SSD, 8GB RAM) to get rather hot, and it can slow my entire rig. I have looked at about:memory, and the memory report has attributed a gigabyte to : '132,113,458.61 MB (98.43%) ── free(segments=471)'. Now I'm no computer expert, but it reads to me that Firefox is dedicating an eighth of my RAM solely to nothing. Can I ask why this is happening and how to free up ram for other, more demanding programs?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

MemTest LAST UPDATED : 12/04/2020
Could you please run a tool from http://memtest.org/
in order to check the integrity of your RAM?
You will need a thumb or disk drive to install it on.
Do you let Windows handle the page file or did you set a fixed size ?
If you use a fixed size for the page file then try the former and let Windows handle the page file.
