Messages I mark as junk continue to show up in my inbox. I have already tried the "adaptive junk" setting and it does not work at all. Very frustrated!
I have been dealing with this junk issue for a long time. I read on the forum that you need to teach Thunderbird to recognize junk. I have been doing that for over a year now and it is not working AT ALL. I mark a message as junk and it moves that message into the junk folder. Then, the next day I have another message in my inbox from the same sender. This is becoming really frustrating. I just want those messages to be moved automatically as they should. How can this be fixed?

Who is the mail provider? Often, it works better if you tag a message as junk or spam on the account's webmail page, so it's identified and filtered before it's downloaded to TB. Subscribing to the junk/spam folder (with IMAP accounts) in TB lets you monitor the filtering process.
Personally, I have this in place for all accounts and have no need to apply TB's Junk options.
This does not really make sense since I am using Thunderbird to manage all of my email accounts in one place. Having to go to Yahoo to deal with junk kind of defeats the purpose of that.
I didn't say it was the best possible method, just that it may be worth trying instead of depending exclusively on TB's junk controls - which you have found inadequate.
