Thunderbird has been running and receiving mail from 3 email addresses for over a week. I now wish to import old data from old computer. The instructions to import say when copying data to profile say when prompted click replace data - will this wipe out what I have there? Can I import without wiping out what I have?

If you replace one profile with another, then, in general terms, yes. The notable exception is with accounts that connect using IMAP where the messages are stored on the server and so will reappear once the account is re-installed.

If you selectively copy folders from the old profile to the new, or use the ImportExportTools add-on, then no.

Copying folders works well with POP-connected accounts and with stuff stored in the. Local Folders account. IMAP-connected accounts don't allow you to paste data into them.

Thank you, I have managed to get them in a separate profile and they are all there if I need them. Much appreciated
