How do I restore browser after using 'refresh firefox'? I lost all bookmarks and all saved passwords plus toolbar, etc. (the refresh stated all would be transferred - it isn't!) I am asking for restore directions to the previous version Firefox, please!

What version are you running and why would you want a previous version and what does that have to do with missing bookmarks, passwords ? Your password may be on your Desktop in a Folder marked OldFirefoxData.

If so : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-lost-or-missing-bookmarks https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

No previous versions : 52.5.0 ESR. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

When you use Refresh, unless it crashes or gets interrupted, you definitely are supposed to retain your bookmarks and passwords. Toolbar changes, no, those would be removed.

Could you check this thread: I did a Reset of Firefox - How do i get add my 'Old firefox data' back?

I had exact same problem ... I am irate that a function "Refresh" which Firefox recommends to users, actually destroys our data with great regularity -- what the hell? Where the hell are the Firefox people to come fix the damage that their "refresh" recommendation causes ... I have spent well over an hour on this (taking me away from my own work), and the Firefox people are nowhere to be found ... and of course, FIREFOX HAS NO IN-PERSON HELP AVAILABLE ... INEXCUSEABLE.

The desktop folder with "Old Data" is not the least bit intuitive and with no direction and help to use it except in the User Forum like this ... BUT WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO ADVISE EACHOTHER HOW TO FIX FIREFOX'S DESIGN SCREWUPS. I'm told there's limited disclosure with the "Refresh" feature that it has a "bug" and to use at own risk. Well, THEN FIREFOX SHOULD NOT BE RECOMMENDING IT TO OTHERWISE COMPLIANT USERS ... DUH!!

Moreover, if there is a bug that is screwing up droves of users, WHY WOULD THEY RELEASE IT AT ALL? ... WE ARE NOT A BETA GROUP AND WE EXPECT A FINISHED DE-BUGGED PRODUCT THAT DOES NOT BURDEN THE USERS TO FIX FIREFOX'S ...

Does anyone know where I should send the invoice at Firefox to reimburse me for my own time lost in my own profession?? I used to suggest tongue-n-cheek, but now I'm FREAKIN' SERIOUS ... and I'll take 'em to small claims if they fail to pay.

For those of you who might suggest I use another browser if so disgruntled ... I am switching to Chrome ... this is a parting shot..

Hi Grateful_Dad, sorry you didn't get a reply yesterday. Every post I've seen from you is DISGRUNTLED. I'm really surprised you used Firefox this long. Why?

In case you change your mind, I'll reply in your other thread.

Otherwise, if you need helping moving your bookmarks to Chrome, you can dig out a file from the bookmarkbackups folder you can find if you click into Old Firefox Data and then into your profile folder, and drop it on this tool, and save out an HTML export file: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/bookbackreader.html
