The new Firefox Quantum browser crashes every time I use it, and I suspect that it's related to a recent update of Microsoft Windows.

My old browser was recognized as the default, and it worked perfectly, or at least most of the time. However, since a new update was installed on Thursday, it has never worked.

So I went into the page with troubleshooting tips and tried all of them. Even Best Buy tried to help, by removing what they thought was a conflicting antivirus/malware program and changing my profile, which is the last step you suggest. But nothing has improved it.

I have just changed my default browser back to Firefox, after the update had changed it to Microsoft Edge, and plan to restart my computer now. I'll let you know what happens.

被選擇的解決方法

I just checked the accessibility box in the security tab as Philipp suggested, and it worked! I can now type this up with no problem.

My Firefox is back! Merci beaucoup, Philipp!

Hello, let's try to set Firefox as the default browser. See the documentation on how to do this here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/make-firefox-your-default-browser#firefox:win10:fx57

I did. I also removed some old Firefox data that Best Buy had installed. But when I turned on my browser, it still skipped on occasion.

But what I plan to do now is restart the system again and see if it works.

Restart did not work. The browser still pauses for about 10 seconds at a time at random intervals.

It has gotten so bad but I have had to switch to Microsoft Edge if I have to post things or search for stuff immediately.

The only other fix I can think of now is to re-install Windows 10 completely, and I don't want to do that.

Any other suggestions?

Could you check the Accessibility Services bug described in the reply from philipp in this thread: Firefox 57 hangs up.

Same as above; constant crashing, today it became virtually unusable!. I have tried the fixes suggested to others, none worked and I have finally given up trying. I have 3 extensions only, 1 youtube video downloader, 1 facebook video downloader, a pinterest button, 1 plugin; shockwave flash, latest update. I am an old grey so my PC has very few programs installed above what came with it...Photoshop elements 7, Microsoft word and not much else, none have given firefox trouble in the years they have been onboard.

I have been using firefox since starting out in 2007, today I opened and started using back up; Opera, nice to have something that does not disappear off screen, but video downloaders will not work with it apparently.
Looking for a fix is way too frustrating and time consuming, I shall wait for one, my input today is to let you know the problem with Quantum is alive and kicking on a machine that is unlikely to offer any resistance to Quantum.

Just as I finished the above; Firefox stopped responding.
