Hello, I have recently noticed that despite the Firefox process being closed, there are a number of connections still open and remain open for the duration of the current computer session. Restart seems to close all connections. Connections increase and stay open the more I would browse.

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate Running Firefox 55.0.3 Using Kaspersky Internet Security 2018 to monitor active connections.

Screen shot attached to show some examples of active connections even when Firefox is closed. Any idea why this is happening and how to prevent it?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

Thank you for taking this on Fred.

Firefox started in safe mode: Problem is still there after closing firefox (Connections are all to google ip addresses it seems)

Windows safe mode: Cannot moniter or test this as safe mode disables network connection and disables Kaspersky network monitor.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Ran +5 scanners, no malware or issues detected. Everything is reporting clean.

Removed and reinstalled Firefox. Still detecting network activity.
