When attempting to mark items as Junk or Delete them from an account connected to a mail server with IMAP and SMTP, the following error message:

"The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The mail server for account [email protected] responded: Unknown UID command move."

I have checked with the hosting provider (LCN) and they said that it didn't seem to be a problem on their end, and to try getting an answer here.

If anyone has had this problem in the past and found a solution I'd be very grateful for it! Thanks in advance

I responded to someone yesterday with that exact error. Basically it is most likely a misconfigured mail server.

Thunderbird asks the server what is capabilities are when the sessions commences. Move is a capability.

That the server then responds that move is an unknown command makes me think the problem is server side.

Thanks for the response Matt.

I am in the process currently of shifting the customers mail provider to Google Apps for Business, rather than using the mail system from their vps (which has been causing numerous issues lately) so hopefully when the move is completed everything will work swimmingly and we'll see if it was a misconfigured mailserver after all!

Cheers
