Why am I receiving notices from Twitter that my account was accessed using Firefox when I didn't use Firefox?

I only use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. I did download Firefox; however, I NEVER USE IT (I placed the desktop icon in the trash, but haven't deleted the actual program yet since there is no "Uninstall Wizard," and their instructions for deleting my ENTIRE FIREFOX ACCOUNT--I want EVERYTHING DELETED THAT FIREFOX HAS ACCESS TO ON MY COMPUTER--was too complicated; AND you can't reply to their email explaining which part of their uninstall instructions you don't understand). Why am I receiving email notices that my Twitter account was accessed using Firefox? Then I'm being instructed to immediately change my password. However, that won't help me, since Firefox must have gained access to my Firefox password. I AM SCARED TO DEATH OF FIREFOX--I WANT IT OFF OF MY COMPUTER (FREE OF CHARGE)--I WANT TO BE ABLE TO CONTACT FIREFOX TO REVIEW THE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR REMOVING THIS FRIGHTENING PROGRAM OFF OF MY COMPUTER, FOREVER! Since I already have all of my favorites saved with Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, it will not affect my computer to delete my entire Firefox file--I want it gone, NOW!

That would be a question for Twitter support.

Please see this support article about uninstalling Firefox. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer

Firefox is the name of the web browser as it is Mozilla that makes it.

I think you are just getting over paranoid or scared over nothing when it could just be case of a message saying somebody tried to log in on account either accidentally (mistype or forgetting name) or intentionally and was using a version of Firefox at time and not your usual Chrome or IE web browsers.

Mozilla does not have any access to any of your passwords you used in your Firefox install and they take users privacy very seriously especially compared to say Google.

I would be more concerned about using Chrome as it is made by big brother Google and IE is made by Microsoft.

Did you ever use Firefox on your computer to access Twitter? And if you did, did you have Firefox save your login? Does anyone else have access to your computer?

If any of your answers are "No" to the above, then the problem may be that someone else figured out your password, completely unrelated to your having Firefox on your computer.

IMPORTANT: never use links in this kind of email to change your password. Always use a trusted bookmarks to plain link to the site to avoid phishing scams.

Removing Firefox is not difficult:

(1) Use the Windows Control Panel to uninstall Firefox.

From the Windows 7 Start menu, ppen the Control Panel

Click "Uninstall a Program" (in the "categories" view, that's under Programs).

Find Mozilla Firefox and remove it.

(2) Remove the Firefox data folders -- two steps:

(A) IMPORTANT - Copy the following line of text and paste it into the Windows 7 Start menu search box and press Enter to launch it:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla

Delete the contents of that folder.

(B) OPTIONAL - Copy the following line of text and paste it into the Windows 7 Start menu search box and press Enter to launch it:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla

Delete the contents of that folder.

You're done.
