My Hotmail Account thru Thunderbird has been hijacked. I no longer trust the Hotmail account and will stop paying for its use. This morning I discovered that there was a problem with my Hotmail account thru Thunderbird after many years of usage and contacted Microsoft Hotmail. They made me change my password but was unable to use the Hotmail account with Thunderbird. I was able to access my Hotmail account thru an online version of "Outlook Express?" Why not Thunderbird? Did MS hijacked my e-mail account? Can Mozilla help? I have been resisting the "GWX.exe" until I build a new computer from the ground up for Windows 10. Don't like upgrades from Win 7 to Win 10. Its like putting a high powered racing engine in an old jalopy. MS is trying to force me to upgrade to Win 10. The FTC will be next....

This is what I got (below) when I tried to connect with "Thunderbird" utilizing the new password....

Sending of password for user [email protected] did not succeed. Mail server pop3.live.com

responded: Authentication failure: unknown user name or bad password.

[Error="ProxyNotAuthenticated" AuthResult=0

Proxy=CY1PR0401MB1552.namprd04.prod.outlook.com:1995:SSL]

77SUNSETSTRIP Where did the bar come from?

Port 1995? You want 995 for POP with SSL. But you seem to be using a proxy server. What's that for?

Belatedly, I think this is the answer to this issue. http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2016/06/hotmail-proxy-errors.html
