I recently updated my Firefox to version 42. After that, I was on the popular website www.hotwheelscollectors.com and ran across an issue. I loaded the main page just fine. There are news articles, photos, and videos to look at. I was unable to read ANY of the articles on the website. I would click the link, and everything would load on the page EXCEPT the article. In fact, all the current news articles and archived news articles from past months would not load. I cleared my cookies, cache, and made sure all my plug-ins were up to date - still not able to read articles. My solution was to go back and install an earlier version of Firefox. I installed version 40, and guess what - that fixed everything.

This was all done on my old desktop that runs Windows XP as the o.s.

Any ideas why this happens?

I checked the link and had no problem.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Were (Are) you using permanent private browsing mode (never remember history)?

Firefox 42+ has a new Tracking Protection feature that is enabled by default in Private Browsing mode. You can see a shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar when you are in private browsing mode that some content is blocked. You can disable this feature in "Options/Preferences > Privacy".

  • Options/Preferences > Privacy: "Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows"
