I know this has been reported before, but I add personal information to help troubleshoot my issue.

When I try to install addon from outside official Mozilla store, I always get this error: "This addon couldn't be downloaded because of a connection failure on [website name]". I often don't want use Mozilla's addon page because Mozilla is extremely slow to accept updates. LastPass hasn't been updated for over year, on the official website a new version of the plugin was released yesterday on March 2nd 2015. The pace of development is fast.

-Bitdefender Total Security 2015 -Firefox 36 -My Firefox add-ons: Attached screenshot shows all of them and the version numbers. YouTube Center script has been installed with Greasemonkey. -Windows 8.1 (64-bit) -I'm currently using VPN (Private Internet Access), but I also had this problem before

Sorry, I don't know why paragraphing doesn't work.

Many externally hosted extensions are loaded after a redirect. For example, the link on the LastPass download page is:

https://lastpass.com/download/cdn/lp_win.xpi

but when you get the install dialog (third attached screen shot), the link shows as:

https://download-do.lastpass.com/sync/lp_win.xpi

Does that second link work any better?

It does work, but I made a temporary solution by downloading the extension file with another browser and installed addon from a file with Firefox.

Hmm, it sounds as though either Firefox had a problem with the redirection or some external security software might have had a problem with it. If you find this same issue on another site, please post back about that one so we can explore further.

I have same problem except mine involves Persona's. Last question for this in mozilla support 2 years ago with no real solution. using windows 7 computer and staying for now ( due to problems) with Mozilla FF35, cannot get my persona's to load because that error message. tried the only solutions which was to add new>string xpinstall.enabled and set value to true, it did nothing for me. I think others are also still having this problem. i sign on to personas in mozilla's theme's pick out theme i want it all looks like going to work, then gets to the page where it says add on and I get that stupid error message... any new solutions for that?

Hi dobydoby, the different components of the theme are downloaded from a different server.

For example, for this theme:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/dark-fox-18066/

the background of the toolbar area is grabbed from:

https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-media/addons/18066/1232849758499.jpg

Can you think of any filter or blocking software that would object to that URL?

Note: I just went to the site directly and didn't try to use any Persona-related add-ons.

No I really have no idea, I do know that persona's works now for me if I turn off the extension/add on "Open links in new Tabs" . So I have to turn it off then restart it after changing persona's , a hassle but at least a work around...

I'm not familiar with that extension. Maybe if you mention this problem to the developer he or she can update it to resolve the issue.

Thank you, yes I have sent numerous emails, but still no response . I hope some resolution does come somewhere. I don't want to update to 36 since already some problems with 35 and I tried 36 and it lost my bookmarks and still trouble with personas...so will wait till that gets fixed too.
