Since upgrading to version 31.3.0 (Mac OS X 10.10.1) my chosen sound file plays when new mail comes in AND a generic sound plays. BOTH sounds play. I turned off the Apple mail sound (even though I never use it) but that did not help. Only my chosen sound played before the latest Thunderbird upgrade. Is there a way to stop the generic sound from playing, or is this a bug in this Thunderbird version that needs to be fixed by Mozilla?

I seem to have fixed this by unchecking "Show an alert" in preferences (under "General"). It was the alert that was making the generic sound.
