Thunderbird upgraded to 31.3.0 yesterday. I am on Windows 8. All was working ok before. Now when performing a Get Mail it hangs saying it is connecting. My ISP is BT Internet. I have used this for several years. I have checked all settings and have tried port settings posted for this ISP along with SSL settings. I have tried to set up a new account using auto configuration but again it just hangs there. I can use my email account on a web browser and it works ok. There are no ISP problems and broadband speeds are ok.

I have recent error message saying: Timestamp: 20/12/2014 16:51:48

Warning: mutating the Prototype of an object will cause your code to run very slowly; instead create the object with the correct initial Prototype value using Object.create Source File: resource://gre/components/steelApplication.js Line: 783 Any suggestions? Can I roll back the upgrade ?

I think you need to consider the ubiquitous and mostly fatal anti virus here.

Check the firewall component is allowing Thunderbird to access the internet (auto is not good enough) turn off the email scanning component.

Most problem post update are anti virus programs that just do not cut the mustard.

Many thanks. I am running Norton Version 21.60.32 with the Smart Firewall turned on. I have turned it off and immediately Thunderbird kicked back into life properly. I will now see how to configure Norton...but that is another challenge. Thank you once again for your prompt support.
