Trying to download 29.0.1 to MBP on 10.6.8 and the progress bar says that it is trying to connect to the server. This goes on for as long as I let it (hours) so is clearly not happy.

I then cancel the download and continue with v28 and all is well.

Is the latest version of Ff not compatible with my OS?

The system requirements indicate that it should be compatible.

Are you getting the update from Mozilla.org?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
