I'm using Win 8.1.1 and including myself there are 3 use'rs on my laptop all running Firefox. If i do a security scan including running adwcleaner i don't have any problems but the other 2 lose their homepages/bookmarks and can't reinstall there homepages, no matter what i do it keeps defaulting to the Firefox homepage. Reinstalling doesnt help as the problem still persists. The only way around this is to completely uninstall firefox on their sections (using revo uninstaller) then reinstall and set up their homepage/bookmarks again. Why does this happen and how can i stop it in the future especially as i dont have this problem?

hello, if you are having issues with adwcleaner you might get a better answer when asking the question in their support forum at http://forum.general-changelog-team.fr/viewforum.php?f=28

The problem isn't with adwcleaner but with the other users losing their homepage's etc, i don't have a problem.

if a scan with adwcleaner deletes other user's bookmarks i would consider that as a problem with this tool though.

Ok i understand what your saying but why does it affect the other users and not myself?

The settings or preferences for Adwcleaner must be set to clean "too much" right out of the box, and you have to learn how that program affects those other Firefox user accounts. Many programs of that nature tend to mess up various user settings in Firefox as we have found over the years of doing Firefox support, and sometimes change those settings to the "default value" that Firefox comes with. Is it up to the user to learn what settings to turn off or "tweak" to get around that action.

See if this helps you:

The forum that phillip hyperlinked is in the French language and I can't get that forum page to switch to British English with the button on their "toolbar" near the top of the page, so I couldn't search for an answer for you.

Bottom line is that your problem isn't with Firefox, it's with a different program. We support Firefox here, and some users who might use the same program may step up to help you with Adwcleaner issues, but we aren't obligated to do that here.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
