I keep getting asked often to accept certificates to websites that I know are trusted. Once I do the graphics for the sites don't work. Why & how do I fix this?

On certian websites I am told it is an untrusted site and that I need to accept a certificate. It happens often and sporatically. Also when I do accept the certificate it often loads the page without the website format or graphics. Why is this? How do I fix this. My OS is Ubuntu 11.10. Firefox version is 10.0

I am running mozilla firefox version 10.0. My OS is Ubuntu 11.10. Websites this has occured on have been the following but not limited to:

1. various ubuntu websites 2. various tech blogs and websites 3. facebook 4. readability

Check the date and time in the clock on your computer.

Try to rename the file cert8.db to cert8.db.old in the Firefox Profile Folder to remove all intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored by visiting secure websites.
If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed file cert8.db.old unless you have user certificates that you may want to export first and import them in the new file.
Otherwise you can restore the certificates by renaming (copying) the file back to cert8.db
Firefox will automatically store new intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send them.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
