After a remote-access mcafee update via IE, my yahoo account works on IE but only partially loads the email on FF (no buttons work and you can't reply to emials etc) . my Facebook screen is also scrambled and I cant access anime-players on Animecrazy.net etc yet some sites are still accessible. Is McAfee on a mission to force people back onto IE?

Hi Cor-el - I've checked that all these settings are set but there was still this strange display scrambling on certain screens until I tried your first suggestion re zoom reset which does finally solve the problem for the problem pages ... but how can I get the pages to remember the zoom settings? However, many many thanks for this but I would love to know how the mcAfee download caused this glitch! Mitch

I went back to classic yahoo and that worked and I could access e-mails again. I downloaded FF version 9 and the latest Java and the latest version of Yahoo worked perfectly and the videos on animecrazy.net but sites like smashwords.com and others are still displaying all over the place.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thanks Cor-el - I disabled all the plug-ins and extensions and default theme is set. I get McAfee Service Host reporting problems at times when using FF but certain sites are still scrambling but still functional. I am now hearing that others downloading their latest McAfee software are experiencing similar problems! I got my Yahoo Mail and Facebooks accounts to work properly by downloading FF9 and the latest Java but I can't work out why the problem is persisiting - I even diabled the McAfee Firefox Scriptscan plug-in but nothing made any difference. I viewed the source of Smashwords.com to see why it displays in my IE9 but not properly in FF to no avail. I can only presume the remote programmer via Citrix changed something fundamental in my system settings but I'm not savy enough to backtrace the changes. Attached is how the smashwords screen looks in my FF.

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)

Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
