There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
- an ActiveX version for IE only
- a Plugin version for most other browsers including Firefox
- On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash (version)". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.
- Do not confuse with Adobe Shockwave for Director (aka Shockwave Player). That is an older Adobe product that is still used by some online sites for interactive content (i.e., some jigsaw puzzles, etc.).
Check your Plugins often --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
- only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
- page will detect only installed, enabled Plugins
Install or update Adobe Flash
- Using Firefox, go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
- When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit OR Firefox button > Exit)
- Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
- In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
- The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
- The installation is quick.
- Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
- To update/install the ActiveX version for IE only, repeat the process, but use IE to go to the above website.

Not related to your question, but...
You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:
- Plug-in check --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
- Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in: Installing (or Updating) the Shockwave plugin with Firefox
- Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape: Installing/Updating Adobe Reader in Firefox
- Shockwave Flash (Adobe Flash or Flash): Updating Flash in Firefox
- Next Generation Java Plug-in for Mozilla browsers: Installing or Updating Java in Firefox

The problem actually started when I updated Flash Player to the latest version!
Please re-read all of my post, especially the second paragraph beginning with "You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed".

The plugin is uptodate. It was updating it that started the problem!
In Firefox, go to Add-ons > Plugins. Do you see "Shockwave Flash" listed there? Please respond with "Yes" or "No".
It was not included in the list of plugins included with your original question. To see the plugins reported with your original question, click on "More system details" to the right of your original question.

Yes....
Actually I have resolved the problem by copying a .dll file from the windows\system32 file to mozilla\plugins. Shouldn't this happen automatically when software is updated? Thank you for your advice anyway.
@jye1912 - can you explain which file you copied and how to add it to plugins? Thanks
The file is NPSWF23.dll
I copied from:
c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash
to:
c:\program files\mozilla firefox\plugins
Sorry - the file is:
NPSWF32.dll
Copying the file to the Program Files Firefox application plugins folder, means that it will remain there until you manually remove it. Updating Adobe Flash will not update that file and you could, in the future, find yourself with 2 "Shockwave Flash" versions in your Add-ons > Plugins.
Same problem with Flash 11.3 beta
I had the same problem(I couldn´t see myself neither the other person, but the other person could see me).
I have solved it doing this:
Log into your Gmail account > Settings > Labs. Enable Video Chat Enhancement lab. Save change. Restart Gmail. Test video.
And now I can see myself and the other person.
