How do I turn off tab animations?
I'm using FF 5.0 on WinXP SP3. When I select to "Open link in a new tab", the new tab slides into view, kind of like the windows animations that I have turned off. How can I get the old behavior back of the tab simply appearing, without the time- and cpu-wasting animations? Ideally, FF would use the same prefs I have set for windows display setting.

Change the preference:
- type about:config in the URL/Location bar and press Enter
- accept the warning message and continue (promise to be careful)
- in Filter type browser.tabs.animate
- on that pref in lower panel, double-click to make the value false
- close the about:config tab
- if behavior does not change immediately, restart Firefox and test.
