I prefer the Google Home page as that give me access to Google mail in the tool bar. I have set Internet explorer to do just that.

But lately in Firefox and Google Chrome the default bar in in Babylon and I do not know how change it.

Do the following please.

  1. In the location bar, type about:config and hit Enter.
  2. In the filter at the top, type: keyword.URL
  3. Double click it and remove whatever's in there. You'll see it revert to "Default" and "String".
  4. Go to File | Exit
  5. Restart Firefox, go to the site you want to set as your homepage.
  6. Go to Tools | Options | General.
  7. Make sure it says "Show My Homepage" in the first dropdown menu.
  8. Click the button called "Use Current Pages" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.

Thank you so much. For hours I've been trying everything to get this thing off my computer and your directions have worked. Thought I had downloaded a font and this thing turned up. Deleted it every possible way I thought I could. Uninstalled Firefox and reloaded and it still turned up with the new Firefox. Went through everything in the computer with the word Babylon and deleted it but that didn't work. I think that Conduit is what I need to go back and search for. Thanx again!

You're welcome.

It's possible that Google search won't work properly with just the default setting. So when you type something in the search field and hit Enter, either nothing happens or it returns you to your home page.

If that happens, go into about:config again and in keyword.URL, add the following: http://www.google.com/search?q=

Oh, and if you don't like Google's "Instant On" and don't want to see it anymore, use this link instead: http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0&hl=en

Since they both become links in this post, you can right click and choose "Copy Link Location". Then do a CTRL+V to paste. Saves you having to type it all out.
