Running Win10 and latest Firefox browser. Trying to get rid of 'Your browser is being managed by your organization' Followed Regedit instructions - only default is listed - no policy. Looked in Mozilla Firefox in Program Files & Program Files (x86) - no policies.json in Distribution. Even did a search in those subfiles - nothing. So how do I get rid of this? I was searching 'Broiling Frigidaire Induction' and one of the videos corrupted my original Firefox. I needed a hard stop to get our of that. I deleted the app and reloaded, and I keep getting the 'Browser managed...' message. Bummer!

You can inspect the Mozilla and Firefox keys with the Windows Registry Editor in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and in HKEY_CURRENT_USER with the Windows Registry Editor to see whether GPO policy rules are active.

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\

The mere presence of the "Mozilla\Firefox\" key is sufficient to make Firefox display this notification, so if you have the Firefox key then remove it and only leave the Mozilla key or remove this key as well if it is empty.

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\ =>
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\

Thank you so much. I can go back to Firefox as my default browser since I've got a trust issue with the two other major browsers. Your suggestion was spot on. I'm back working with my previous configuration.
