any way to get data back after password reset?
Old laptop died so when I went to sign in on new laptop I had to reset password. Now I cannot get my old bookmarks and passwords. Any way to fix this?

No can do since everything was on the old system. There is no sync that will recover this. If there wasn't a backup profile backup previous that was saved from the previous system then there no recovery possible.
