Version: Thunderbird 91.7.0 (64-bit) [Flatpak from Flathub] OS: Xubuntu 20.04

Issue: The times indicated on the left side of the "Day" and "Week" view are wrong. They seem to be 5:30 hours behind the actual time. This calendar is synced from Google Calendar where the times are correct. Even the current time indicator is offset by the same amount in Thunderbird. In fact, even the times I set for start and end of day are offset by the same amount. See attached image for details. What is interesting is that my timezone is IST which is UTC+5:30. Now I did look this up on bugzilla and other forums, the only remedy I found was to set the timezone in Preferences>Calendar>Timezone. This was already set for me and I have tried changing it back and forth, but got no effect.

Please suggest a course of action. I am not averse to going through config files, getting logs and/or writing a bug report if this is indeed a bug.

Just to clarify, the problem doesn't seem to be with syncing with Google Calendar as the correct time is shown when hovering on the event. So Multiweek and Month show the correct timings.

UPDATED:

In the image shown - Please open the orange event which you are pointing to and post image to show the start and end times and the set timezone. Basically, double click on that orange event to open. It will state Start and End date and time in your timezone and also whatever timezone you selected. Post image showing that window. Then click on 'Edit' and post image showing date and time etc.

It is necessary to see both views as they contain different data.

In Preferences > Calendar Please post image showing the settings under 'Calendar' subsection.

It means the forum would then see all the settings effecting the view in Calendar - as shown in first image you posted.

Hey Toad-Hall, Looks like the information is right in the double click window but not in the "Edit" window. I have attached the screenshots you asked for and have also enabled "show timezones" in the edit window. While it seems possible to change it here, all of the calendar entries and all of the synced calendars have this issue, so I'd prefer not having to change things manually for each event.

Try Thunderbird from your repo.... I just saw an issue with dates being i the wrong format because flatpak is run in a container, perhaps this is another of those container issues.

Hey Matt! I tried out the version in my repo and it does indeed work correctly. So the problem is with the Flatpak install. If there is a workaround, please suggest that. Otherwise, I'll just file a bug report for this and stick to the version in my repos.

I notice you set a custom setting and the info in that is displaying the 9.00am start time which it would have got from the original time set for the event.

This means the original timeset was created as 9.00am, so something has deducted 5 and a half hours from the saved event time and edited it, hence why it displays wrong in calendar.

Noted : Kolkata is Offset UTC +5:30 hours

It is as if the calendar and any 'Edit' of a saved event is actually using UTC Europe/London time which explains why it is 5 and a half hours behind real time in Kolkata.

Please check out a setting for me.

Menu app icon > Preferences > General Scroll down to the bottom and click on 'Config Editor' button It will say beware :) In search type: resist Look for this line: privacy.resistFingerprinting Is this set to 'True' ? If yes, please double click on that line to toggle the value to 'False'

Restart Thunderbird.

Please report back on results and tell the forum whether setting was true or false and whether setting to false worked or not.
