I get yellow messages saying "Thunderbird thinks this message is junk mail," then we have two options: "Not Junk" and "Learn More" which tells us to train Thunderbird to recognize junk. What? It doesn't offer the choice to say "Yes, it is junk, so please delete (and learn)" or just plain "Junk" but only the choice to disagree with your message and say "Nope it is not junk." Therefore, our problem is further complicated. And finding a way to tell you your effort to deal with junk mail is only more frustrated by your chosen efforts. You could fix it by simply providing a button for "Yes, It is junk," or simply "Junk," but you need to do something because now I am receiving more junk mail than ever because there is no easy way to get rid of junk.

Please do something. Ignoring an obvious big problem encourages me to return to microsoft mail or gmail or... some other commercial program which I didn't like, which drove me to Thunderbird.

In making the statement, Thunderbird is announcing to you that it has decided the message is junk. If you agree, just click the * to delete the message. The statement is not asking, it is telling. If the statement were "Is this junk?", then your approach would be correct, in that there would need to be a YES and a NO option. In this dialogue, however, only a NO is needed if you disagree.

Sorry David, the phrase is a mere statement and you are condescending. One may answer a question with a yes or no answer... not a statement.

The issue questions the competency of Thunderbird in writing a program that is confusing, at best. Nowhere on the page does it say to hit the asterisk key if I agree with their opinion.

Multiple simple ways to present the opinion and respond to it exist. "Thunderbird believes this message is junk. do you agree?" is a longer way with buttons for yes or no.

A simpler method would be to give the user a "junk" button and let him or her decide. Like it is, the user cannot declare it junk, as compared with the only present button which says, "Not Junk." Duh. Anyway, with respect, thank you for your attempt to help, but pressing the asterisk key solution is from the netherlands, even though it may work, it is not consistent with any programming logic.

If there is a "Not Junk" button, there should also be a "Junk" button. Moreover, if there is a "Junk" button, there is no need to have a "Not Junk" button.

My regrets if I appeared condescending. Your post indicated you did not understand the message from TB as written. If you wish to have the wording changed, you can file a request at bugzilla dot mozilla dot org.
