Why can I suddenly not open attachments on emails?

Hi, Two days ago, my thunderbird stopped allowing me to open, view or save attachments. When I right click, all options are greyed out.

This can probably be fixed by switching a preference in (Mac) Preferences/Advanced/General/Config. editor:
