I will be in firefox on a site i click the x and think firefox is closed. i then click on my facebook ico on my desktop top and i alway get close firefox. it happens all thime while i am trying to get into facebook it always says direfox still running close firefox how do i stop that

why am i getting Firefox still running I close Firefox when i click on the x to close firefox. then i click the facebook icon on my desktop and before it opens i always get firefox is still runing close firefox before facebok loads . how do i stop it from doing that

i look in my task manager and see 6 firefox running

It is quite normal to see three or more Firefox processes running.

  • one process for the main Firefox thread (user interface)
  • one or more content processes, see:
    Options/Preferences -> General -> Performance
    remove checkmark: [ ] "Use recommended performance settings"
  • one process for the compositor thread
  • one process for the WebRender thread when this feature is enabled
  • https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings

You can use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar to make sure Firefox closes properly.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

ok now i have another question I have just refreshed my firefox got a new profile but i can not drag and drop to the desk top even with plugins and extensions disabled i do however delete parent lock from the profile and now can not get it back i can not drag any link from firefox to my dektop

I am able to drag and drop links with Google and ie to the desk top but i can not with firrefox it loos as if it is going to go but it does not go, I can sit it trying to move but when i release the mouse it does not go. i have an extention open in IE and have to get ashort cut that way

and can do it with  google  I am not sure if it is my desktop or if it is an add on   but it will not let me drag  it and droo it to the desktop. I can get it if   i click save pahe as  but ti des not come up with the actual link it  comes up asa mozilla link

Issues with dragging a link to the Desktop can happen if you made changes to the UAC settings. Try to launch Firefox with the -no-deelevate command line switch.

-no-deelevate is a command line switch that you would have to add to the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (leave space before the switch). "<path to firefox>\firefox.exe" -no-deelevate

thanks for trying to explain but i do not understand this. I usually have UACto do not notify me. i keep it that way.But I was able in earlier version t drsg and drop with UAC at do not notify. I tried it and di enable it and it did work but i put it back all the way down again. The coomand prompt thing i do not understand can you show me an example of what to do for the no dee elevate and is there a way to to diaable thelauncher process. mine is enabled
