View all current mail in unified Junk & Sent folders
Sometimes I want to be able to click on the unified Junk or Sent folders and see all the mail in them. However Thunderbird doesn't seem to do this for these particular folders (I have no problem with Inbox, Archives and Trash folders) -- the mail on the unified folder is not updated until I open open Sent/Junk and click on each individual subfolder, thus I have to manually update for every account before I can see all Junk/Sent mail in the unified folders.
I notice that the "search online" is forced to "disabled" for both for these folders, so I am thinking this is the reason ... is there no way to enable this for these two folders, or is there some other way to get these unified folders to update all accounts at once?

When View/Folders is set to All, right-click Junk and Sent folders, Properties, and check the box 'When getting new messages...'. Then switch the view to Unified. Does that make the unified Junk and Sent show current mail?
Thanks! That solves my big problem with Junk mail folder no longer having to be updated manually for each account, so that's 95% of the issue. Ideally I'd rather not have TB check for junk mail every time it's looking for new mail though ... only when I click on the unified folder, but I guess that's not possible?
I don't know how to make it so Junk is updated only when you click on the Unified Junk. I have an IMAP account that updates Junk whenever new mail arrives there, as with Inbox, Sent etc., i.e. the server supports the IDLE command. But the 'When getting...' box isn't checked. The behaviour may depend on the individual server, and POP vs. IMAP. But you've made a start.
