Strange Message in Options: "Your organization has disabled the ability to change some options"
I get a strange message in the top of my options page in ff. I have the latest 66.0.3 (64 bit) on win 10, 64 bit. The message says:
"your organization has disabled the ability to change some options"
This happened after I accidentally installed Avast and Web Companion through utorrent's installation option which asked if I wanted to install these 2 programs.
How do i fix this?

This happens when GPO rules or a policies.json file are active or otherwise restrictions are applied. So it is possible that Avast or other software has modified Firefox.
You can check the about:policies#active page in Firefox 63+ to see if there are policies active.

You can inspect the Mozilla and Firefox keys with the Windows Registry Editor in this location to see whether policies are active.
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\

Hi corel,
I read the links you posted. But I really dont understand what exactly you want me to do.
I checked *HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\. And I found that theres only a string that says 'default.' When I click on it, it has no value data.
I also ran *HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\. But theres no Mozilla\Firefox after \Policies.
What do you suggest?

hi, the message will be due to avast which is importing its certificates necessary for https interception this way. if you didn't install avast intentionally i'd suggest removing it again through the system control panel...
I've got the same problem, and it's driving me batty!!

Hi pam_e86
Are you using AVG/Avast software or other security software?
You can check the about:policies#active page via the location/address bar to see whether policies are active.
