How to clear automated url when open a new tab?
When I click the + sign in my "tab bar" to open up a new tab, an automated url address automatically populates the address bar. It never did this in the past. In the past, I would click the + sign; and then I could immediately begin typing the url I wanted in the address bar. Now I have to first delete the autopopulated address. How to I permanently remove this autopopulation process so that when I click the + tab I get a new tab with an "empty" address area?

Hi ricpowers, the built-in new tab page just has a placeholder in the address bar (faded text indicating what to do).
What is showing up in your address bar?
If it's a moz-extension:// address:
Most likely, it is generated by one of your extensions. If you check the Home panel of the Options page, it may indicate which extension has taken control of your new tab page:
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
In the left column, click Home
Then on the right side, look below the "New tabs" selector for any reference to an extension.

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.
