Installation of Thunderbird version 60 fails on Linux
I have Thunderbird 52.9.1 (64-bit) installed in Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS.
Since there is no update available from Ubuntu tried to install Thunderbird version 60 manually without un-installing older version by following https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/installing-thunderbird-linux.
While installing thunderbird version 60 getting below error. Kindly help. Thanks in advance.

You really should remove the 52.9.1 Thunderbird package from Ubuntu.
While installing thunderbird version 60 getting below error.
As described in the article the Thunderbird 'installation' simply is to extract the contents of the downloaded tar file. There really isn't much which can go wrong with this. So what exactly 'fails' while 'installing'?
p510:~/thunderbird$ sudo thunderbird
That would be the command to actually run Thunderbird. However, nowhere in the article is stated that you should run Thunderbird as root. Why are you doing it anyway?
Wrt to the error messages, try to run Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird
